A Closer Look at the Inauguration

The Big Picture at The Boston Globe has an awesome collection of large photographs that give a glimpse of the pageantry, pathos, and the enormous crowd at Tuesday’s inauguration events. Over a million people were in attendance, with millions more following the festivities by TV and internet all over the world. This collection has pictures of both. Shown are attendees taking footage by phone at one of the inaugural balls. Link -via Cynical-C

Those are some great pictures! That one you showed reminded me of a moment when this guy who looked like a big shot, important, admiral leaned over with a camera during the inauguration and started snapping photos like everyone else.

Everytime I look at pictures like these I am so overcome with positive emotion and joy – hard to keep the eyes dry even in the office!

While I wasn’t and am still not an ‘Obamaphile’ I can say that that day made me extremely proud to be an American. Our sense of pride is a beautiful thing and will ring true above any crisis. I the behind the lectern shots. What it must feel like to stand there… I raise my glass to history’s greatest experiment in Democracy.

The photos of Bush in his helicopter and of the #44 folder are so intimate, what an amazing private inside glimpse they offer.
