Husband Tested Bulletproof Glass with His Wife

[YouTube - Link]

Made in the early thirties, here's a video clip of a man with a rifle testing an early version of the bulletproof glass ... by having his wife hold the glass to her face while he shot at her!

No matter how good a shot I am, I don't know if my wife would ever agree to such an experiment!

Wow what a dumbass.

Even if the glass held just think of the impact of the bullet making the glass smack back into her face and break her poor nose.

I guess this may be why women don't list inventor as the profession desirable in a mate.

Edison was never a mac daddy.

@los tacos - that's exactly what I thought. I hate to be the one to yell 'fake' even at something in B&W, but how can this be? The rifle really didn't have enough force to knock the glass against her, or out of her hands? No wonder it didn't break the glass.

This reminds me of a story from Eric L. Haney's book, Inside Delta Force. He talks about how they had a company making them different bulletproof gear and they had just sent over a headpiece/helmet for them. One of the guys who swore by the stuff this company made wanted to test the helmet by wearing it and getting shot. None of the other guys was willing to be the shooter though. This was lucky because the company had actually sent a mock-up which was not actually bulletproof.

I am not going to sit here and claim that this has to be real or fake. I certainly don't know. But if it is real, then that's a mixture of blind trust and stupidity.

Maybe it was just a .22 and he was aiming off just a little bit, just to make a good show. Sort of like the guy in the circus who throws the knife near the spinning woman.

Me again. Perhaps the guy tested it a few times before the actual filming. Kind of like how you would try a new recipe for cake a few times, before brining the perfected cake to a potluck. You do not want everyone to know your failures.
we only see this film. We have not seen that maybe there were trial runs.

If I loved my wife I never ever would point a gun even remotely in her direction. Waait a moment! I never ever would point a gun in anybodies direction...
