There are Navajo living on the floor near the Spider. It is sacred to them and they co-own it, will never give permission to climb and I would think if the rock didn't kill the the First Nation people would.

What is the beautiful Spider Rock that is, I think it attracts many rock climbers to challenge themselves to get on the top of it. Looking definitely good.

Looking at this superb Spider Rock reminds me of the outback wonder, Ayers Rock that has become the Rock Resort (West Australia). At one time, the Aboriginals claimed that Ayers Rock was a sacred place that people were not allowed to climb the Rock. Climbing rocks is always a challenge, but imagine the challenge faced by these Aboriginals trying to protect their sacred land and the challenge of the Australian government to open this beautiful piece of land for the world to see. Spider Rock is standing tall only challenged by rock climbers.

Great pictures- they easily inspire travel to see them, Some of the locations are on Indian reservations in the southwest, and are off limits to climbers. Nonetheless, all beautiful summits that have all been climbed and enjoyed!
