Translucent Sea Creatures

National Geographic always has cool photo galleries, but I especially like this one. This guy is a cowfish, and although he’s transparent, he’s glowing purple because of the photographer’s strobe. He’s kind of cute.

He is the Sir Grapefellow of the oceans. And for that, we love him.

The cowfish displays a favose or honeycomb pattern in his flesh. I never thought I would use that word when I learned it, but I actually see favoid patterns all the time now and I’m glad I know a word to describe them.

Aw, but I feel kind of cheated out from not seeing any pictures of the translucent creepy animals of the deep. They always give me interesting nightmares.
