The simplest, easiest tent shelter I ever set up was a rope and tarp. Of course we had trees to tie the ropes to, so in a post-apocalyptic world there might not be any trees to tie the rope to.

Not exactly... It was a 3-week class project in an Industrial Design class. We got stuff like this all the time.

This is hilarious... I know all these girls/guys and had to help them move those things around. Such a pain in the ass to move an 8X8 foot plastic accordion.

Sorry, but polypropylene is an oil / gas byproduct which takes a lot of energy to produce. It is perfectly recycleable, true so used wisely it is a great product.
