that song is about the day the music died, Feb. 3, 1959
they were all young as well. ritchie was 17, buddy was 22, and jp “the big bopper” was 28.
even the pilot was 21.
very sad.

The article is fascinating. I had no idea that the Big Bopper, Ritchie Valens, and Buddy Holly were all killed in the same plane crash! And TBB was only 28! Crazy. I wonder if “the day the music died” is the same one referenced in the song “American Pie.” I never figured that was referencing some literal event.

I do find it a bit odd that they feel it necessary to dig up a coffin that’s been buried half a century, move the corpse to another site, and sell the old casket. All I can say is “why?” It sounds like the family is getting financially desperate.
