Absolutely beautiful. Thank you for sharing.

My parents were a lot like pjmoore's. Getting an orange on Christmas was a real treat. As a child I never really understood why there was always an orange in my stocking on Christmas. It's amazing how much the world has changed.

My dad was born in 1906. His family wasn't dirt poor, but not well to do either. Most of his Christmas' as a young boy consisted of an orange. It was a *huge* luxury to have fruit shipped all the way from Florida at that time. I definitely understand that young boy being very impressed with his Christmas orange.

There's an audio link right there on the top. You gotta hear it.

The guy's voice makes the story even better.

Wow, what a great story. And Sam Jackson is one guy who gets around. :P

This reminds me of growing up on a farm, when the true gift of Christmas was the gathering of family and food, and all the evils of the world just melt away.
