Dog Hard to Train? Maybe it's a Fox ...

Posted by Alex in Animal on December 23, 2008 at 2:51 am

A Chinese man found out the hard way why his Pomeranian dog was impossible to train: it’s actually a fox!

… he found the dog hard to tame, it would often bite him and had several unusual traits, he told the Wuhan Evening Post.

"It can’t bark but instead makes little ‘em em’ noises, and its tail has been growing longer and longer," he said.

"The most annoying thing is that starting this summer, the dog became very smelly. Even when we gave it a daily shampoo bath, the smell was still strong."

Zhang took his ‘dog’ to a local zoo for answers, and it turned out the dog is actually an Arctic fox, a protected rare species.

I would like to know if the fox attacked his face before he was sent to the zoo. HHmmm...maybe he is just blushing with shame.

I asked this on Nothing to do with Arbroath, but I'm still curious. Why IS his face so purple?

Cute! A pet fox seemed like a good idea to me, until I found out just how strongly they smell.

Wouldn't a rare arctic fox be worth more than a poodle? Or at least more difficult to get?

In fact, I'm calling shenanigans on the guy. He bought an Arctic fox, knowing full well what it was, and only pretended to be duped. He probably thought owning an exotic pet would be great, until it got too much to handle.

I'm inclined to go with ted on this theory. How do you not know a Pomeranian from a fox? The first time that thing poops the smell would be a good clue. Then, that might not be fair of me to say given that he obviously has no clue about dogs and I have a dog who thinks it's the height of fun to roll in fox poop.

Oh dear, Gaulder. At least if you get a lamb instead of a Poodle, you can eat it and hide your stupidity. But wow. That link was sad and hilarious all at once.

Snopes says that lamb story is false... and I should hope so!

I have a little more faith in the world now that I know the story is false. :)

..Does this man have AIDs? What is wrong with his face?

Maybe when donating the fox he decided to get a house cat... which coincidently turned out to be a lynx.

The thing with his face looks like it might be bad color correction on the photo.
