Notice the paper hanging out the back? It seems you have to solve the puzzle to change the roll, not get some paper.

Brilliant! Just adopted a kitten who’s a champion tp shredder. This device is exactly what I need so I won’t have to hide the loo roll in the cabinet at all times.

Doesn’t look that difficult.
And it only looks like you need to untie it to change the roll.

Pull out the cardboard core, and use as normal from the center of the roll.
Smack your so-called “host” on the way out.
