Ramen Pizza

Karol Lu entered a contest that challenged chefs to come up with a recipe for ramen noodles that was both delicious and creative. Her idea? Ramen noodle pizza crust! Would you try it? Link -Thanks, Geekazoid!

This reminds me of one of my husband’s lunch concoctions – spaghetti omelette. Not quite the same, but close!
It looks like the spaghetti crust pizza we made last Father’s Day, except more photogenic. Better Homes and Gardens Step-by-Step Kids’ Cookbook, 1989 edition.
It has a lasagna-like flavor, but is not something you’d want to repeat. That cookbook also has instructions for a hobo picnic. Yumm.
i second you on the maggots, MarcBee. even though i know it’s Ramen all i can see are maggots. so, no, i wouldn’t try it.
Was the contest “Create Something That Even A Haggis Loving Scot Would Not Want To Eat.” ?
Is there only one slice gone, because it tastes that good?
Sure I’d try it. It looks just like what it is: Ramen Noodle crust with delicious melty cheese on top, Yum! Luckily I’m not maggot-obsessed like some people here.
I would not be able to get past the maggot look to actually try it
i had ramen for lunch…. i know.. but i really dont think its looks appetizing in pizza form….
Oh come on folks. It doesn’t look that bad! It looks like rice to me.
While the idea is interesting and marathon sessions of Bizarre Foods have really opened my mind to eating weird things, that just looks way too much like an old pizza that’s become infested with worms for my tastes.
OMG, like everyone else said – maggots. I mean, I get it, but it looks nasty.
There’s a recipe we make around here called “Spaghetti Pie” -it looks like that- like someone else said, similar to lasagne.
mix the noodles with ricotta cheese, an egg and some parmagana.. form into crust, top with sauce and bake, then add cheese.. nothing new reallyo.
Back in uni, as a typical college kid, I consumed quite a lot of instant noodles (or ramen, as you call it). When I get tired of the same old noodles in soup, I make it into a noodle pancake. Boil the noodles al dente (w/out the flavorings), drain, mix with an egg and the flavorings, pour into frying pan. Voila! Yummy hi-sodium pizza/pancake!
Another favorite is to use ramen as substitute for macaroni in a gratin. Or quail eggs covered in ramen & egg balls. I’ve even rolled up boiled ramen with a meaty centre in banana leaves and steam them. Yum!
Common, you guys are so easily grossed out
@Jade
That’s exactly how my husband does it. It’s not half bad, though I prefer a sandwich or salad for lunch myself. I am giggling at the maggot comments, though.
Whoah I’d absolutely try that! It looks great and can’t be any worse than a garbage plate.
No reason I wouldn’t eat it but I bet it’s messy. The extra washing up might put me off too.
I’d try it. thou the wife hates ramen noodle.
maggots, like that Italian cheese? Gross.
I agree with some others…at first when I was scrolling down I thought Oh, great it’s maggots (especially after the gross food article on the first page). I was still grossed out a little but glad to read it wasn’t maggots.
I do enjoy me some maggots on any level, especially with cheese flavurz! YumYum Maggots for Dinner!
