The sign would only be up for a day or two before it was again stolen. They finally (6 or 7 years ago) changed the name to "Richard H. Hunter Memorial Bridge" and has not been stolen since. I don't even know if it's possible to steal the sign now- it's got something like 24 rounded bolts holding it into the brick. I have been assured this security was not pre-emptive, but "lesson learned".
