Neatorama Challenge: Most Stolen Sign on Campus

Photo: Corvus

A quick update: we're having a fun little collaboration with ViewBug, a photo, video and art sharing website. It's a Neatorama Challenge where you can upload weird/strange/wonderful things about your hometown (best one gets $300!)

This one is the most-stolen sign on the Colorado State University campus, taken by ViewBug user Corvus.

You can still uploads yours for a chance to win the prize (hurry, contest ends Dec 5, 2008): http://www.viewbug.com/community/448/

The funny thing is that every other similar sign on campus is held on by only four bolts. I don't even know if it's possible to steal the sign now- it's got something like 24 rounded bolts holding it into the brick. I have been assured this security was not pre-emptive, but "lesson learned". Perhaps I should have titled it "PREVIOUSLY the most stolen sign on campus"

Here in Marieta, GA, we used to have a sign on a railway bridge that read "Dick Hunter Memorial Bridge." The sign would only be up for a day or two before it was again stolen. They finally (6 or 7 years ago) changed the name to "Richard H. Hunter Memorial Bridge" and has not been stolen since. I wish I had a picture.
