5 Strangely Coloured Beaches

Posted by Miss Cellania in Travel & Places on November 12, 2008 at 10:25 am

The sand on these beaches comes in black, white, green, red, purple, and pink! It’s all a matter of what kind of rock was pulverized to form the sand. Four of these five beaches are in the the United States. Shown is Pfeiffer Beach in Big Sur, California, with its pink and purple stripes. Link -Thanks, David E!

I really want to go to these places. It must be so cool. Like when we did sand art as kids, only real...

It reminds me of the sand art in bottles that they sell at the flea market.

Stunning. The green beach is so neat. My favorite is the white sands beach. I love white sand.

I'd take a sand box full of the purple.

Looks like another few reasons to go to Hawaii.

The sunburns aren't as bad on the volcanic rock beaches.

Don't forget glass beaches too. They come in all sorts of colors.

When my family was leaving the United Arab Emirates to immigrate to Canada I bought a small little sand display that has the sand from: Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, saudi Arabia and the UAE.

Respectively the colours for the sand for each country goes like this in the display: White, Orange, Red, Beige, Light Blue, Gray and Black.

    :)
