Paraguay Breaks World BBQ Record

(Video Link)

30,000 people in Mariano Roque Alonso, Paraguay cooked and ate 28 kilotons of meat in six hours.

As an American, I am appalled that this record has been taken away from us. Surely we are capable of outconsuming every other nation on earth, in every category. This usurpation must not stand!

    What's a kiloton?

The video says kiloton, but the article says 28 kilos. That's about 60 pounds. We ate more than that at my last picnic!

    28 kilotons for 30k people?

Wouldn't that make for almost (28/30) a ton per person?

    :o )

Basically a ton of meat per person? That would be an amazing feat.

it's gotta be 28 tons. That comes to less than a kilogram or about 2 pounds per person which is reasonable. I wonder how the air smelled

It's called 'asado' in Argentina, Paraguay and some other Latin-American countries ;)

A kiloton is 1000 tons. So yes 'Jack-Booted EULA' I understand why they feel bloated.

And : I expected that the proceeds wouldn't go for a children leukemia fund but to the National Paraguay Heart and Coronaries Diseases Center ;)

I suggested the news this morning to Neatorama, as I live in Asunción.

Anyway, the official number is 26,145 kilos (57,639.85 pounds)... or 0.86 kilos (1.89 pounds) per person, which makes perfect sense.

I am appalled that NC does not have this record. The good people in Lexington need to fix this, now.
