When is war "legal" or "illegal"?

And does "legal" war not produce the same end result as "illegal" war? Death?

Now remember to keep hitting everybody over the head with this.. because a rational discussion concerning real ethical crises must never be allowed!

Wow, Moon, that's a lot of posts. You'll never convince CFE - don't even bother.

And CFE, I never said abortion was right. My personal feeling is that abortion shouldn't be used as a substitute for birth control. But I don't think it should be illegal. As I said, women have been aborting their babies since time began, and will continue to do so no matter how much you harp on about it. They can have a safer, clinical option, or they can make it a DIY project, and risk killing themselves.

I don't bother to look at the pictures. It's as silly as PETA, trying to shock people. If the pictures you show are the corpses of babies with souls, then aren't you simply exploiting those innocent souls by showing pictures of them? Surely you object to violent graphic images in movies or video games, or pictures of children in sexually explicit poses... What makes your use of such pictures - to further your own cause - any better? You are no better than a pornographer.

come on CFE, Obama is NOT pro-abortion. There is a HUGE difference between pro-abortion and pro-choice. I am pro-choice. I dont condone abortion, but I dont feel that the government OR YOU has the right to tell me or any other women how to run my body.

Obama has stated on many many occasions that he is for regulation and restrictions on abortion. But you and other conservatives are so blinded by your own ideologies that you think it's ohk for a woman to be forced to carry a child against her free will (incest/rape), or you think that an unborn childs life outweighs the life of a woman.

by the way, i usually vote republican. not this time though. I also live in Alaska, I helped elect Palin as Governor...since then she has proved to be nothing but an idiot.

Obama is a thug. He runs around with a terrorist that bombed the Pentagon, associates himself with Acorn that is responsible for huge voter fraud, doesn’t feel the need to put his hand over his heart during the National Anthem, wants to “spread the wealth around” in a socialist manner, sat in a church for 20 years listening to a leader spouting, “God-@#$% the USA!”, has a wife that has never been proud of this country until now, and he thinks sticking a pair of scissors into the skull of a newborn baby after it is born is okay in order to protect the “health” of the mother. Obama is a thug. May God have mercy on this country if he is elected. And it ain’t because he’s black because I voted for Alan Keyes in the past.

That link you gave to the Gallup has a graph that shows that they have Obama in the lead continuously since at LEAST September 28th.

It’s not web-based, Moon, and it’s not two weeks old. Quit drinking the Kool-Aid and stop reading your sad little liberal blogs. BO is pro-abortion and abortion is killing. Obama is a thug.

More childish name-calling. If anybody said ANYTHING about Obama, they would NOT call him a thug. He's highly educated, reasoned and calm.

He's not pro-abortion. He's pro-choice.

You're reading Drudge and you telling ME not to read sad little liberal blogs??

Like the Chicago Tribune, who endorsed Obama today?

Once again, I am talking about a Gallup poll for likely traditional voters. Here’s the link, again.

http://www.gallup.com/poll/111211/Gallup-Daily-Obama-49-McCain-43.aspx

Scroll down to the middle of the page and you will see the chart entitled “Gallup Daily Election Polling Results for the General Election” It is dated OCTOBER 13th - 15th, 2008. It shows BO at 47% and McCain at 49% for two days straight.

There is also a new AP/Yahoo poll that shows BO at 42% and McCain at 44%. The race is tightening. Too bad, so sad for you moonbag.

The Gallup poll you linked shows Obama leading 49% to McCain's 43%!

There's a poll back to January 2007 that McCain leads by 19%!!! OMG! OMG!

Moonbag?? Are all you Republican types really this childish?

The latest Gallup poll for likely voters is
Obama 49%
McCain 47%
It’s on Drudge.

Some people don’t like looking at pictures of aborted babies, but facts are facts. Obama is clearly pro abortion.

This is not a poll. It's a survey. It's over 2 weeks old. And it's web-based.

Obama is pro-choice, not pro-abortion.

Hey Ted,

People have been killing throughout history. That doesn't make it right. Abortion is killing.

Since 1973, it is estimated that over 48 million babies have been aborted in the United States. In 1996 alone, it was over 1.3 million. That’s 3,700 a day.

It never fails to amaze me how upset pro abortionists get about "the pictures". Just pretend they don't exist or that none of them are real and you'll be fine.

@Ominous Red: Wow, do you have it wrong (like way too many others.) Trouble with your little narrative is that when your pirates go to donate money to a politician, most of it goes to the DemocRATS because that's where they'll get the best return. The problem isn't deregulation, it's crooks getting away with murder because they've paid off the cops. And who's been in control of Congress for the last 8 years? Hmmm? Not saying that the Republicans are innocent in all this, but if you blame all this on them you're really, really missing the point.

Here's something for your edification: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=1RZVw3no2A4&feature=iv&annotation_id=event_597487

Perhaps you should stick to your hiphop and leave the political commentary to thinking individuals. The Democrat talking points you've been spoon-fed are pretty easy to pick out.

I am amazed how this got to be a post about abortion.

Guess what, CFE? Abortion is not exactly on-topic. There was a perfectly good one about leftover test tube babies that would have been more relevant a few pages back.

People have been finding ways to terminate pregnancies since the beginning of time. Whining about the medical procedure of abortion and trying to shock people is counter-productive. Would you outlaw abortions and chain mothers suspected to be potential murderers to their beds until they give birth? Because it ain't gonna stop no matter how many comments you make on Neatorama.

And I loved Ominous Red's comment. Nobody ever reads those long posts, dude!

I made a typo. You are correct it is BO at 49% and McCain at 47%. You can see that this is a typo because I had listed this statistic in an earlier post. But, you have admitted that the race is close.

If you don't want to look at pictures of babies that have have been burned or cut-up, don't look at them. If you want to make up some weird fuzzy idea of when life starts to make yourself feel better, go ahead. Pro abortion people don't like seeing these images because they might have to confront their own actions or their own ideas. Abortion is killing.

CFE, posting a link to graphic images is not lending to your credibility on this subject. it's like you're basing your opinions on shock value. Im also inclined to question any "facts" on that site because it is obviously so biased.

using religion to make a logical argument doesnt work.
can you prove to me otherwise that life begins at conception? I think that what we humans generally see our minds/conciousness as the thing that seperates us from the rest of the animal kingdom.
Based on this, I think it's logical to say that a fetus is human when its brain has developed enough for the potential to have "higher consciousness". This doesnt happen until 40 days after conception.

Where are you getting your sources for your claim that most abortions arent because of rape or incest?

By the way, you need to take another look at that poll you're citing, it shows Obama at 49% and McCain at 47%. Check your facts.

Once again, I am talking about a Gallup poll for likely traditional voters. Here's the link, again.

http://www.gallup.com/poll/111211/Gallup-Daily-Obama-49-McCain-43.aspx

Scroll down to the middle of the page and you will see the chart entitled "Gallup Daily Election Polling Results for the General Election" It is dated OCTOBER 13th - 15th, 2008. It shows BO at 47% and McCain at 49% for two days straight.

There is also a new AP/Yahoo poll that shows BO at 42% and McCain at 44%. The race is tightening. Too bad, so sad for you moonbag.

You can rationalize and trivialize abortions as much as you want. You can talk about rape and inceset, when that is a very small percentage of abortions. You can say that a first or second trimester baby isn't really a baby or that an abortion of that baby isn't as bloody as a baby farther along. Take a look at the pictures in this link.

http://www.priestsforlife.org/images/index.htm

Some of the babies are very small, but still bloody, still recognizable as humans. Life begins at conception. To stop that life is killing. Pretending that it "isn't that bad" or that it "isn't that big of a deal" or "that they're too tiny anyway" doesn't mean it isn't what it is. Abortion is killing.

"What is taking place in America," she said, "is a war against the child. And if we accept that the mother can kill her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another." -- Mother Theresa

It's not amazing that people get worked up about this at all. It is a charged presentation because fundamentalists get absolutely goo-goo eyed over Palin being 'cute'.

What would you do if you had a candidate this weak? Well perhaps play to the large number of citizens who feel threatened by leaders who are smarter than themselves. Hence the goofy presentations.. win win, makes the scared folks feel better and distracts them from facts.

Really think about the ways that a sheltered running mate can be manipulated, and you may start to get some new insight into how dark this situation is.

American's don't have money because they have been laid off, denied a raise or outsourced, they cannot pay the bad mortgage deals they have signed up for.

You notice who gets nasty? It's always Republicans. You know why? Because Republicans are the PIRATES.

I'm not trolling.

Let me explain. There is another post on this site about the financial crisis. Says this melt down was caused by pirates. But it doesn't say who the pirates are. Look at Conservative Beliefs outside of Religion. They always say, pick yourself up by your own boot straps. Have self accountability and work hard and earn your keep. It is not my job to take care of you. So they do not like the idea of welfare. They do not like Affirmative action. And I agree with that. They do not want big government coming in and telling you what to do with your money. And I agree with that. Put a salary cap on a CEO, that's crazy. If I am ever a CEO, I don't want the government putting a cap on my salary.

But....... if I get a portion of my salary from stock options. And I lay off 25% of the working American Staff to help my overhead cost look good to improve stock prices. Then sell all my stock and watch the company tank because I laid everyone off while I count my 200 million I just made by laying off Americans. Guess what? I am a Republican Pirate.

This is why I understand the idea of SPREADING WEALTH.

If I sell hot dogs and I make a million a year. Fair exchange. I buy my buns from an American baker. I buy my hot dogs from an American butcher. I make American money and I pump it back into the economy by buying other American products and paying my taxes for the right to make a million dollars on American soil. But if I abused Americans to make my money... I think I owe America. I think I need to pay a higher tax. The wealth needs to be spread.

Do any of you RIGHT WINGED Republicans understand that companies get tax cuts for outsourcing American jobs? This is abuse in its worst form. This is the kind of stuff Bush and McCain have been growing in our government for years. What the hell do you think the words "Deregulate" mean? It means I don't want big government stepping in and policing this abuse.

Republicans have been abusing America for years now. Who do you think has been getting out of hand for the last 8 years? I mean, even Glenn Beck and Bill O. are talking about how bad Republicans have been. Glenn Beck has been talking about how Obama is gonna make this a Socialist country and look at what is happening before Obama has even had any kind of political power outside of voting. Government is having to step in because of greed and abuse of power.

McCain is a good leader, but you know why his chances are shot? Because Republicans are tired of Republicans. Who do you think is in bed with these corporations and these oil companies... literally. When the corruption witch hunt starts going into full gear, you will see a bunch of Republicans pop up.

But wait....

Don't think I don't see a bunch of dirty Democrats. You see... here is why republicans really hate Democrats now. Dems blew it for everybody by basically doing the same thing Republicans have been doing in the private sector. But the Dems messed up because they did it in the residential sector. Abusing Americans through mortgages. See, you can lay off Americans and people wont really notice it. Your company can have record profits and you don't give out raises or Christmas bonuses and no one notices. You can cook the books and sell all your stock and sink the company, and no one notices. But as soon as you sign people up on a bunch of adjustable rate loans and try to completely rape people with bad mortgage deals, EVERYBODY notices it. You know why? Because everyone is starting to understand what is happening to us. Like John McCain says.... people are mad. People are mad because Republicans have deregulated the private sector allowing businesses to abuse Americans. And since American's don't have money because they have been laid off, denied a raise or outsourced, they cannot pay the bad mortgage deals they have signed up for. This is effecting everyone's pocketbook directly and indirectly.

Your neighbor loses his job. You don't care. But then, his house forecloses. Now you care. Because the value of your house just dropped and you lost money in the form of equity. This is happening on an unprecedented scale. Everyone is being effected. All of us on this comment thread is getting effected by this.

And people like CFE, and Evil Pundit, they show how ignorant to the bigger picture they are when they hang on to things like ACORN and the Abortion issue. And I don't mean ignorant in an insulting way. I mean in in the sense that you just don't see the whole thing.

Look, Voter Fraud is a big deal. And so is Abortion. So it is very fair to bring them up. But be sensible about it.

Listen to yourself and look at your own postings. Do you seriously think someone writes Mickey Mouse on a voter form and really thinks it is going to count for a vote? You are so ignorant, that all you see is ACORN, but you don't hear about the people who get turned away for being black. Nooooo.... you don't want to talk about that. You want to talk about Obama rigging elections with voter registrations under names like Dallas Cowboys. Really? You just watch Fox News and then run a mile with it. And you think Obama is the leader of ACORN like McCain doesn't have anything to do with them? Do you know how many people are linked to ACORN outside of Obama?

I just hope people can put in some effort and learn what is really happening in America instead of just copying crap they got off the internet and pasting it in comment sections.

So vote for McCain and keep Obama out of office. You will save a bunch of babies' lives by banning abortion and taking away Women's rights. In the mean time, corrupt politicians wage wars we cannot afford and allow these oil companies and other private sector businesses continue to abuse Americans.

This is not about Dems VS Republicans.

This is Rich VS Poor.

American’s don’t have money because they have been laid off, denied a raise or outsourced, they cannot pay the bad mortgage deals they have signed up for.

You notice who gets nasty? It’s always Republicans. You know why? Because Republicans are the PIRATES.

I’m not trolling.

Let me explain. There is another post on this site about the financial crisis. Says this melt down was caused by pirates. But it doesn’t say who the pirates are. Put a salary cap on a CEO, that’s crazy. If I am ever a CEO, I don’t want the government putting a cap on my salary.

But……. if I get a portion of my salary from stock options.

But if I abused Americans to make my money… I think I owe America.

What the hell do you think the words “Deregulate” mean? It means I don’t want big government stepping in and policing this abuse.

Who do you think is in bed with these corporations and these oil companies… literally. When the corruption witch hunt starts going into full gear, you will see a bunch of Republicans pop up.

But wait….

Don’t think I don’t see a bunch of dirty Democrats. You see… here is why republicans really hate Democrats now. Dems blew it for everybody by basically doing the same thing Republicans have been doing in the private sector. But the Dems messed up because they did it in the residential sector. Abusing Americans through mortgages. See, you can lay off Americans and people wont really notice it. Your company can have record profits and you don’t give out raises or Christmas bonuses and no one notices. You can cook the books and sell all your stock and sink the company, and no one notices. But as soon as you sign people up on a bunch of adjustable rate loans and try to completely rape people with bad mortgage deals, EVERYBODY notices it. You know why?
wow. it's amazing how worked up people get about something like this.
its meant to be funny.
there's no need to get nasty lol.

By the way CFE, have you ever heard of Keating economics? I think both Obama and McCain are probably guilty of some things (as are most politicians). I just think that Obama is the lesser of two evils.

Wow - CFE, Evil Pundit, it's hard not to sympathize with you. You're really up against it here. This heartless ridiculing of political figures, it's just so WRONG. Why can't the lefty liberals just come out and state the plain facts, like Rush and O'Reilly do, or write serious books like Ann Coulter? Never mind brothers, shrug it off and hold high the torch of freedom. When our glorious leader ascends to his appointed place in three weeks, we'll be free to send the liberals to the camps, and deal with that uppity one the way he deserves. Take heart - with Diebold on our side we cannot lose. Hail Victory!

Well that made me laugh a bit lol.
But what a load of poo going on in the comments, all of a sudden you guys are all up in arms about abortion evil this, abortion evil that? Give it a break. Besides, why cant abortion be ok in some situations? You act like ALL abortions involve half or mostly developed babies that have been brutally murdered. That's just not the case, and no, I'm sure none of us would say we approve of that anyway. Including myself, people that are pro choice are not crazy baby killers. I've never killed one and I'm not going to.
For some reason you cant realize that just because someone believes they or others have a choice in continuing or stopping their pregnancy for a reason (it really should be as EARLY as possible) it doesn't mean they are horrible, bloody murderers. There's no need to get that hysterical.

And think of it this way, how would you all like it if abortions really did get banned, and you were a female that had just gotten pregnant because of something like parental incest or some sicko that raped you? Hmm I guess that's just TOO bad if you want to stop the pregnancy, because some tiny embryo made thanks to your rapist is far more important than your fully grown body and your decisions about what stays in it now. So if you try to get an abortion, no matter how soon, you will be a criminal. You'll have to go on with the entire pregnancy and everything that goes with it, and have this bastard baby that your rapist oh so lovingly put in you. You get raped, and you'll have to pay for it.
Just think about this. Maybe abortion needs a few restrictions, but no more than that. Put yourself in the shoes of the people that do get pregnant when they really did not want to and should not have, before you go blathering all self-righteously about what you think is wrong or right.

Also CFE, you probably think you must be a really good person by quoting stuff from Mother Theresa, but guess what, a tiny embryo or barely developed fetus isn't exactly a "child" yet. They hardly even have functioning brains. Again, instead all this nonstop holier than thou stuff, try to put yourself in someone else's shoes.

@Easy: It's the official policy of the Democratic Party to oppose any requirement for personal identification when voting.

Considering that so many of their votes come from fraudsters like ACORN, that's no surprise.

If they weren't cheating, they wouldn't be against ID checks.

I'll be glad when you North Americans take your 2 weeks off from your interminable election cycle so the rest of us can take a breather from this tedious slow-mo bum fight. It's as much fun as watching embittered spouses arguing, and just as rational.

Easy, here's one definition of voter fraud:

Political parties, campaign organizations or other groups can perpetrate organized fraud by obtaining and voting fraudulent absentee or mail-in ballots.

I'm not from your country so I don't really understand this. If there are thousands of fraudulent voter registrations, does that mean that thousands of fraudulent voters can actually turn up and vote? That is, dodgy people voting at more than one polling place as different names, etc? Surely they would need ID to vote?

Not really sure what these fraudulent registrations can achieve... someone explain?

If ACORN is so horrible I wonder why McCain appeared as the headline speaker at an ACORN sponsored rally where he told the ACORN people that they "are the people who make America great"

More hypocrisy. More lies.

Today the FBI announced it is investigating ACORN for voting fraud.

North Carolina — State Board of Elections officials have found at least 100 voter registration forms with the same names over and over again. The forms were turned in by ACORN. Officials sent about 30 applications to the state Board of Elections for possible fraud investigation.

Ohio — The New York Post reported that a Cleveland man said he was given cash and cigarettes by aggressive ACORN activists in exchange for registering an astonishing 72 times. The complaints have sparked an investigation by election officials into the organization, whose political wing has supported Barack Obama. Witnesses have already been subpoenaed to testify against the organization.

Nevada — Authorities raided the headquarters of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now on Tuesday October 7, 2008, after a month-long investigation. The fraudulent voter registrations included the Dallas Cowboys starting line-up.

Indiana — More than 2,000 voter registration forms filed in northern Indiana’s Lake County filled out by ACORN employees turned out to be bogus. Officials also stopped processing a stack of about 5,000 applications delivered just before the October 6 registration deadline after the first 2,100 turned out to be phony.

Connecticut — Officials are looking into a complaint alleging ACORN submitted fraudulent voter registration cards in Bridgeport. In one instance, an official said a card was filled out for a 7-year-old girl, whose age was listed as 27. 8,000 cards were submitted in Bridgeport.

Missouri — The Kansas City election board is reporting 100 duplicate applications and 280 with fake information. Acorn officials agreed that at least 4% of their registrations were bogus. Governor Matt Blunt condemned the attempts by ACORN to commit voter fraud.

Pennsylvania — Officials are investigating suspicious or incomplete registration forms submitted by ACORN. 252,595 voter registrations were submitted in Philadelphia. Remarkably, 57,435 were rejected — most of them submitted by ACORN.

Wisconsin — In Milwaukee ACORN improperly used felons as registration workers. Additionally, its workers are among 49 cases of bad registrations sent to authorities for possible charges, as first reported by the Journal Sentinel.

Florida — The Pinellas County Elections supervisor says his office has received around 35 voter registrations that appear to be bogus. There is also a question of 30,000 felons who are registered illegally to vote. Their connections with ACORN are not yet clear.

Texas — Of the 30,000 registration cards ACORN turned in, Harris County tax assessor Paul Bettencourt says just more than 20,000 are valid. And just look at some of the places ACORN was finding those voters. A church just next door is the address for around 150 people. More than 250 people claim a homeless outreach center as their home address. Some listed a county mental health facility as their home and one person even wrote down the Harris County jail at the sheriff’s office.

Michigan — ACORN in Detroit is being investigated after several municipal clerks reported fraudulent and duplicate voter registration applications coming through. The clerk interviewed said the fraud appears to be widespread.

New Mexico – The Bernalillo County clerk has notified prosecutors that some 1,100 fraudulent voter registration cards were turned in by ACORN.

That’s not all. So far this year at least 14 states have started investigations against ACORN. Talk about a culture of corruption. It is so bad that Representatives of Congress have asked for the Justice Department to investigate, and GOP presidential candidate John McCain is bringing it up in his stump speeches. The Obama camp is stealthily altering its “Fight the Smears” website to distance themselves from the organization — quite a challenge considering how close their candidate’s association has been with the group.
