...My goodness.Gasoline?Caustic soda?Is that where the phrase...'i got some mind blowin'charlie' comes from?
Seriously though, those communities of people must live in absolute fear. All that amongst the beautiful backdrop.

I know someone who insists they can tell when it's been made with petrol and when they used diesel.

I enjoyed the backdrop of white people taking pictures like they were at disneyland or the zoo. Probably posted it to their facebook page along with a link to an article from this american life.

Damn, I'm from Colombia. The drugs problem is hard, but the cities aren't violent. You people around the world, please don't buy drugs, you are giving dollars to narcos, guerrillas and paramilitar forces, if you stop the drug consume, Colombia will be a beauty and peaceful country.

Carlos, I wish it was that easy, but as long as cocaine is addictive and gets you high, people are going to do it. Now, if the US actually wanted cocaine off our streets and Columbia to be safe and free of the cocaine trade, it would have been done by now.

    @ su.wei

That's what I was wondering! This guy obviously works for some really dangerous and violent people and the film makers didn't bother to at least censor his face? Did they even think to do so to protect the man who obviously looks like a nice old man from perhaps serving as a lesson to the community by the narcos not to film their cocaine production? If not that is some shoddy and poor thinking on their part.

    Nasty stuff.
Is is just me, or did the explanatory captions go by way too fast? Not that I'm taking notes or anything.

What a waste of good coca leaves. I've had coca leaf tea before, and it was very good as an aspirin. This only proves my point to people that coca does NOT equal cocaine, as many people seem to think. Coca is a natural product used by many people in my father's home country (Bolivia) and should not be restricted and burned all because people decide they want to mix harmful materials with it to make a buck.

Right..half the video is Spanish and even if you spoke Spanish, the dialect is unique and the sound is bad (especially with the Americans oohing and ahhing because they're proud they understood him).

And yeah, some of the text went away way too quickly but that's why I love the pause button.

NicoNico-- isn't it a shame that some of the world's best herbs are made illegal because people want to turn them into addictive substances?
