This guy is ridiculous for going behind his wife's back, but the whole "politics in childbirth" thing is certainly not new, I can't tell you how many Jimmy Carters and Ronald Reagans I've met. Also an Augustus Caesar, but I'd kill for a name like that

I don't care if I was a McCain/Palin supporter myself; if my husband did that I would file for divorce. For him to have to "trick" me into naming the baby an UGLY NAME is an act of betrayal. He couldn't ASK his wife? WTF?! If she stays married to him after that, she is a loser doormat and doesn't deserve any sympathy. My husband wants to name our son Blaine, and I'd sooner name him Kumquat than that.

Suddenly all I can hear in my head are lyrics from Flagpole Sitta: "Been around the world and found That only stupid people are breeding". The point here isn't what the guy named his kid, it's that A. He went behind his wife's back and changed the child's name without her consent after she was so kind as to screw him, carry his kid for nine months and then give birth to it. and B. He changed his kids name to something he KNOWS will be awkward and embarrassing for the kid in the long run. Kids aren't property. You want to name your car Betty Sue? Fine. Want to call your dog Duke Wilford Barkingham the 3rd? More power to you. But you don't get to use your kid as a billboard for your political beliefs or personal interests. This is a human life we're talking about. I really hope his wifes sees what an utter moron he is and refuses to produce any more children with him. Do we need these genes in our pool? Everyone should go and and rent Idiocracy and take a gander at our future. When you're done, go to a Mensa meeting and get busy reproducing before the idiots take over.

This may not hold up legally since he did it without his wife's knowledge and he used two different birth certificates and "caused some confusion." Depends upon the state and judge. I agree with everyone else he'd be out on the curb for that stunt. What an arrogant buttmunch.

Wow! This intrigues the blogger in me. I wish I would have found this story... I would have given this guy such a hard time for what he did to his poor daughter. Granted they can change the name, but what if he chooses not to and she has to grow up with a name that fuses together the names of two political candidates? Heh... kind of reminds me of the sort of tactics that got that pesky G.W. Bush into the White House twice! Sneak around, change the paperwork behind honest voters' backs. Yep, the guy's definitely a bone-headed Republican supporter, willing to completely undermine his country for his country.

Sheesh. In researching our family history, we found that one of our ancestors married a woman who went insane and killed their newborn baby by throwing the child out of a window. Another ancestor was a Republican politician. We grimly joke that we can't decide which of the two is the bigger blot on the family escutcheon.
