New Blind Speed Record

Posted by Alex in Car & Vehicle, World Records on October 13, 2008 at 1:34 pm

Being blind usually stops someone from driving - but not a Belgian man named Luc Costermans. He’s just set the world’s blind speed record:

Mr Costermans topped 308.78km/h (192 mph) while driving a Lamborghini Gallardo supercar at Istres, near Marseille, in southern France.

Mr Costermans thanked his co-pilot Guillaume Roman, saying: ""I’m very, very happy. It’s a team effort."

The Istres military landing strip is, at roughly 3 miles, the longest airstrip in Europe. It’s one of the few that the space shuttle can use. Driving a Gallardo on it must have been a blast, even blind !

192 in a Lamborghini Gallardo? I wonder how much mileage that gets on the highway.
