I disagree with Dianne. His face is too.. weird.

That being said. this guy's heart is in the right place and I'd be glad if he was around were I the one about to be evicted.

however...

It does concern me a bit when people abuse their power. Corruption and selfishness aren't the only way people can abuse their power. This guy is in a position of authority and obviously disobaying laws. Throwing aside whether it's right or wrong (and I can't believe I'm saying this), but doesn't that encourage others to diobay laws they think are unfair? Unfair laws are supposed to be changed by democracy. Granted, that a bit 'blue sky' thinking.... but it seems like a small step toward anarchy...

'A hero will arise'. I read elsewhere that the 'issue' is even worse than this. Apparently the 'banks' are issuing eviction notices w/o checking who they're evicting. Apparently not just anyone can be evicted under the law. However, they rely on the Sheriff to work out who can and can't be which means he is doing bank work for free. Perhaps a yanqui of Chicago persuasion can word us up on that. ps: no bankers will get evicted...you betcha.

Right on. I wish this would catch on. We've had several cases here of folks renting houses where the "owner" stops making the mortgage payments but keeps on cashing those rent checks and never even tells the tenants anything is wrong. If the house were sold out from under the tenants they'd get some kind of notice. But in these cases, nope, it's the sheriff.

i have to say, this guy is awesome! how long this will last, i don't know, but as a renter in chicago it's nice to know that someone is standing up for what is right here.

D-san - the owners of the buildings lost their mortgage and the banks now own the buildings. It's the renters who pay their bills on time that get evicted.
