Ugh.. wish it was that low everywhere in SC. In the NE Columbia area, most places are still in the 3.20-3.40 range.
It was at just under 4.00 for a while, so good to finally see the prices coming down now. Bout freakin time.

$2.59 for regular at a Murphy's/Wal Mart in Harlingen, TX.

I still think it's bizarre that anything under $3.00 is now widely considered a good price for a gallon of gasoline (in the U.S. at least). It was less than half that eight years ago.

It's also under $3 here in Lawrence, KS. There are differing prices all around town, but I think the lowest one I saw on my drive to work this morning was $2.82.

$7,05 in my hometown - Delft, the Netherlands. Price includes approximately 65% government taxes. Apparently they use the money to pay for health care, free education and stuff

JUST in time for the COLA(cost of living Allowance) estimation..
Thats what Social sec. use's to ADJUST payments.
It happens EVERY year at this time, the 3rd quarter.
AFTER the 3rd Q, it Goes NUTS for xmas.

Figure that in the last 10 years, SS has gone up about 25%, and the COST of living has gone up 50%..

Gas prices have been in free-fall in the Austin,TX area for the past 2 weeks. We have dropped almost a full dollar in under 14 days. We are averaging about $2.95 with the lowest I saw earlier today was $2.72.

Yep ... your eyes are not deceiving you. The "base"

$4.00 a gallon was all big unregulated speculative bet by the investment banks and funds by way of the "Commodity Modernization Act". We probably won't see that price for another 5 - 10 years !!

I know my opinion is not going to be popular but I wish the prices would stay high. It's the only thing that has motivated people to get out of their cars. I hope the folks who have found a different more environmentally sound way of commuting stick to it even if the gas prices dip.

That's actually about the price here in Missouri as well. My friend claimed to have seen $2.69 somewhere in town, but most places are in the $2.70 range.
