This has to be Arizona…try read those signs going 45 mph in 3-4 lane traffic. Take that into consideration and then add all the old people in the world and you have a problem…a big old problem

That looks like Connecticut Ave. NW in Washington, DC… and if this photo wasn’t taken there, that is still indeed how those lanes work.

It’s just rush hour rules. Lots of parkways have this sort of arrangement. I’d bet that the commuters don’t mind the sign as much as they would the gridlock if the lanes stayed the same through the day.

630am to 930pm Use 3 of the 4 lanes?…. but from 330pm in the second lane you’ll meet traffic coming straight at you from the opposite direction! No wonder I hate driving.

seriously people? I don’t know where this sign is, but you can automatically tell its a sign for contraflow lanes.

There are probably lights in the street, as well. Commuters in the morning, commuters going the opposite way in the afternoon. Pretty straightforward.

Those other lanes are going the other way. Changeable lanes scare me. If you believe the top line, the second line will get you killed!
