The Fatty Melt

Posted by Miss Cellania in Food & Drinks on October 2, 2008 at 10:15 am

Another ingenious way to clog your arteries: The Fatty Melt. Make two grilled cheese sandwiches, grill a hamburger patty, then slip it between the two sandwiches. This would be three meals for me. Link -Thanks, raphael!

I can one-up this sandwich. In college, there was a little bar that used to offer a great special that consisted of a grilled cheese sandwich, with a jamacian patty slipped in there, along with a frosty Duff beer.

It doesn't look that much worse for you than a regular Cheeseburger.

I want to make one of those. My dad has some frozen burgers I think. I don't know if he has cheese though.

Seriously, its not that much worse for you. You have two more slices of white bread and one more slice of cheese, plus a little butter to toast the cheese sandwiches. It looks delicious.

Needs more cheese, between the sandwidges and the burger. Also some onions would probably help. Also bacon. Lots of bacon.

Oh, it's gonna be a lot worse for you than a a typical cheese burger. A typical cheeseburger has in addition to the meat, 1 slice of cheese between 2 pieces of bread (OK usually a roll but about the same amount of bread in any event). This badboy probably has 3 (at least 2) slices in EACH grilled cheese outer and the grilled cheese itself is well, grilled, which means frien in (usually) butter or some kind of oil.

Just the same, I'm psyched to make one. Looks yummy.

    Straight talk from Sid.

Cheese, starch, butter, and meat. My husband's four favorite food groups! :-P

Just looking at the picture gives me a raging case of heartburn and grease burps. (Of course right now, EVERYTHING gives me heartburn and grease burps...)

The double bypass at The Vortex bar and grill in atlanta did it.

@Sid - you're arguing about two slices of cheese. Two. Slices. American. Cheese. I can ingest that many calories by accident.

Hooray!! terrifyingly lardy American food that has not got chocolate or frosting.

Thanks for this savoury heart hand brake.

See I can like US recipes, just hold the sugar is all.

Actually this looks great, though I would take about4 aspirin before eating it.... and have the paramedics on the speed dial.... and leave the front door open.
