just looked at this thru both regular 3-d glasses (didn't work well) then some 3-d glasses we just got at a glow in the dark black light putt putt golf place, they aren't blue and red like the usual but clear, and the diamond REALLY stands out with them, try it out if you can find em.

The reason is because they just used two inks over top of each other, which is subtractive blending, instead of a magenta ink, which would be additive.

It's like the difference between paint and color spotlights.. mix paint and it goes black, mix light and it goes white. For the 3d glasses, you need to mix the colors like light does.

Although admittedly magenta is kind of lame looking, and most people don't look with 3d glasses, so maybe they were going for that.

Well if you click on the link, you will see a tattoo of scissors where there IS an overlapping color; it's very dark though. I also got out my 3D glasses, and it didn't look 3D! I'm not sure if it's because the tattoo isn't very sophisticated, or because I'm viewing it on a computer monitor...

Friend, sometime co-conspirator, and original Subgenius tENTATIVELY a cONVENIENCE has a 3-d tattoo of a brain on his head. Of course, you need the glasses to check it out, but even without them the effect is pretty amazing. You might try to do the Google for it.

I did not think that it was actually supposed to work with 3D glasses. I thought it was more of an homage to 3D

I have some 3D glasses here (don't ask me why) and the effect doesn't really work on this image like it was intended. Probably for the reason Tom Finnigan pointed out?

So, there's one big problem with this method, the blue completely overlaps the red. If you look through one eye, you see a complete blue gem. If you look through the other eye, you see the red gem, but it has lots of holes in it.

Where the two gems overlap, instead of being blue, should be a mix (additive blend) of blue and red. Looks like some sort of magenta?
