Looks more like a cownose ray from this angle. Note the lack of a "dorsal" fin in the back, and instead, two smaller fins on the sides.

That's what's known around area divers as a bat ray, sometimes referred to as a cow-nosed ray. Looks like whoever it was also severed the tail. Sad.

There are hundreds upon hundreds of ray species in the world, but somehow, they've all automatically become "manta rays" to 99% of the population.
