I first I was like WUT? but then when I read it was in SF I became less confused.

Looks more like a cownose ray from this angle. Note the lack of a “dorsal” fin in the back, and instead, two smaller fins on the sides.

    Either way, poor guy.

That’s what’s known around area divers as a bat ray, sometimes referred to as a cow-nosed ray. Looks like whoever it was also severed the tail. Sad.

    Gotta call it animal cruelty.

Perhaps the West Coast’s answer to the Montauk Monster. One step closer to a real life monster fight.

I wish someone had put it out of its misery. If I were there, I’d want to, but wouldn’t be able to. I’m so torn…

“to add some morbid humor to this bizarre turn of events, one of the officers on the scene poured a half-empty water bottle on the poor creature… Maybe in hopes of magically reviving it…”

    What a dick.

In a related story, a Man Ray was found on the streets of San Francisco..

They are getting more confident now they have taken one of ours. Prepare for a Ray invasion.

There are hundreds upon hundreds of ray species in the world, but somehow, they’ve all automatically become “manta rays” to 99% of the population.
