Wow, thats so weird. 9th grade (1991) I started doing this just to pass time in classes. I still do it to this day. I’m half Korean, must be genetic.

Also, I remember how upset I got when I found out my wedding ring was hampering my spinning. Needed to relearn.

Heh, it IS a curse, PapaTango – I can’t be near a pen without having to spin it, either, no matter how many times people have told me it’s distracting … And come to think of it, like a lot of other folks have said, I picked the skill up from a Korean classmate, too – hey, maybe it’s a conspiracy! Maybe the Master Plan is to get enough people addicted to it such that come the revolution all they’ll have to do is lay down a load of pens and invade while we’re all too busy spinning the darned things to pick up a weapon or put up any resistance!

Put down the pen before it’s too late!

I remember freshman year in college, I saw a buddy of mine twirling a pen. I got eager to learn it so I spent so long watching videos like this and started learning them myself. Ever since then, everytime a pen lands in my hand it just ends up getting twirled around my fingers.

Its a curse I tell you!

I used to do this all the time in classes…. Wanna know how I got hooked?

Cowboy Bebop… Spike does it with a cigarette, and I figured it would be a cook thing to do at a bar. turns out I just use it when I’m bored in class.

Try using a quarter and rolling it through your knuckles as well… I find that’s more of a challenge.

Yeah, this is kind of a craze in Korea.
They even have clubs dedicated to it.

I can get about one or two good spins per 50 failures.
