Micro Compact Home

That is the m-ch or micro compact home, a 2.6m cube lightweight compact house designed for one person or an agoraphobic couple. Its inventor, Prof. Richard Horden, wrote:

The micro compact home [m-ch] is a lightweight compact dwelling for one or two people. Its compact dimensions of 2.6m cube adapt it to a variety of sites and circumstances, and its functioning spaces of sleeping, working / dining, cooking and hygiene make it suitable for everyday use.

And if you think that no one could live in one of those little cubes, they actually have constructed a "study village" populated by students of TU Munich (makes sense, they're students - my first college apartment was no bigger than that!). They're not cheap though - they cost about EUR 25,000 to 34,000 each!

Like it. Soon to be sold in the USA too. Am surprised however that they didn't incorporate solar panels or suggest geothermal fittings etc. Sounds like these would be <100K if sold here with taxes, installation, delivery etc. They emphasize these are temporary housing however. Guess they'd be more ideal for hunters, bird watchers, beach bums etc. in that case. Could add modules too.

We already have those.

Photoshop some wheels under it and you'd call it a TRAILER.

....good for attracting tornadoes and parking old rusted-out cars in the area I originally grew up in (the Midwest USA).

DO NOT WANT.

In Louisiana, we call those FEMA Trailers. They are being burned up because of emitting toxic levels of formaldehyde or gluteraldehyde. I think, though, that they cost more than these, because they were government issue.

It may be for the agoraphobic, but it's definitely not for the claustrophobic. And I'm often banging my elbows on things as it is... I can't imagine how bruised I'd be living in something like that all the time.

I am having a seriously hard time trying to picture a family of four living in one of those. Uh, yeah, not happening...

Nice idea, but best for singles or really intimate couples. Or really tiny leprechauns.
