Okay, okay – so I did ask whether we should kill the ORLY meme … but perhaps the answer to that is "NEVAR!"

Neatorama reader Molly Clark and her husband spotted this street sign somewhere on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, on their way to a Christmas dinner (they actually turned around and pulled over to take this photo) – Thanks Molly!

    Ha! Could you imagine the conversation at the department where they decided the street names?

    Advisor: "Sir, the kids these days are into this new fangled slang terms. Perhaps we can get them more interested in local politics and the upcoming election if we name some streets that they'd understand?"

    Mayor: "That's a great idea! What do you propose?"

    Advisor: "There is this "O-R-L-Y" thing going about..."

    Mayor: "Excellent! What does it mean?"

    Advisor: "I...don't know..."

    Mayor: "Who cares! O'Reilly it is!"

    Advisor: "You mean ORLY, sir?"

    Mayor: "Oh, really what?"

    And this continues for 2 hours more with more confusion.

    Orly is not an uncommon name in a few cultures. You're going to run into it a lot and you're quite the dork if you're going to still be tickled by it every time you do.
