"Alex, It’s time you reconsidered on what we spoke about in our Emails." By your words, its obvious that Alex declined your suggestion to "flush" Adam. Did you really think that bitching and moaning would get anything done? Guess what -- you're not going to agree with everything you see in life. Neatorama is no different. The definition of editorialize:
1. To express an opinion in or as if in an editorial.
2. To present an opinion in the guise of an objective report.

Or, more simply put:
To insert personal opinions into an objective statement.

"a fitting tribute for our outgoing President" is editorializing, albeit mildly.

"this sort of thing is disrespectful to the office as much as it is to the man" is not editorializing. I was not making, or pretending to make, an objective statement, but was expressing my opinion. For someone who expresses his opinion so vociferously, Adam, you certainly seem to have issues with others doing the same.

Nobody expects Neatorama to be completely objective, but there is some level of expectation for objectivity, and you certainly don't hold back with your political and personal criticism in the comments.

For someone who's not taking it very seriously, you certainly appear to be argumentative. I think c-dub's right: it is a form of bullying.

Apparently the issue is that your skin is too thin to be doing this sort of work. Show me any other Neatorama writer (or any other blog writer for that matter) whose name appears so often in the comments on his/her own posts.

Amazing; all I had to see was the title to know it had Stanhope's name attached. The opinions you express, Adam, do wonders for your credibility. Was this story funny? Yes. But it was your editorializing and offensive posturing in the comments that really sets people off. If you're insecure enough to be unable to respond to criticism in the comments, maybe you shouldn't be posting.

If it was Neatorama's goal or my own personal goal to use this blog as a tool to constantly disparage George Bush, it would certainly manifest itself in a far more obvious way than this post. A team of people could sit from dawn until dusk, all day, every day, posting about people, places, events, programs, jokes, books, publications, movies, sound clips, video clips, etc., etc., etc. beating up on Bush - or any other controversial political figure for that matter. This is simply not happening.

I've been posting to Neatorama for more than a year and a half now and out of the SCORES of posts that I have contributed, I think I can count the overtly political ones on one hand.

It's ironic that the same ideologues who decry political correctness seem to assume a quivering lip and call for censorship the moment their hero is criticized or satirized on the internet.

There were 19 posts yesterday, one of which told the [funny] story about a group of eccentric people in San Francisco who are floating the JOKE idea to rename a sewage treatment plant after George Bush - and the reaction here reminds me of a small mob of Yosemite Sams - "hopping mad" at this perceived transgression. Relax. It's a joke. Somehow I think that even Mr. Bush himself isn't losing any sleep over this one.

According to our blogging software, there are more than 15,000 posts published to this blog to date. If your thesis here in this thread is that I have somehow subverted this blog and turned it into a forum for inappropriate presidential criticism, then a quick contemplation of the numbers involved should dissuade you of this particular fantasy. I'd also suggest that some of the accusations leveled against me in this thread and in email to me personally are far more volatile and inappropriate than the JOKE about renaming a sewage treatment plant after Bush.

I do not shower this site with politically oriented posts and I will pledge to continue not to turn this into a political website in the future.

That being said, if some day in the future a dairy farm in Wisconsin that sells its processed manure in bags to garden centers around the country announces that it is going to change the brand name of its manure from "Sunshine Farm Cow Manure" to "Bush Administration Cow Manure," then I reserve the right to post the story. You, in turn, needn't read it.

San Francisco (my teh city) is broke and burning millions a week on b.s., they don't need this, too.

I as a customer have come to love Neatorama as a daily visit. And I believe that Adam is ruining what I have come to love. There are obviously many loyal readers here who don't want to have to leave this site. Adam seems to be doing just that, driving away customers.

Just a thought for you Alex... I would ask Adam to keep your customers in mind with his posts.

I understand I don't have to read this blog, in fact, I would save a lot of time if I didn't, but a few months back, Alex asked the community what we thought would make the site better, a clear invitation to make suggestions for improvement of the blog, and now some of us are making them.

I think the drive to rename it after George Bush is funny, but does the post mesh with the usual tone of Neatorama posts? I don't think so, so I merely expressed that and tried to give a more tempered approach to topic since many of the people who didn't like the post merely ranted like crazy people.

But if you don't like our comments, skip them, no one is making you click the comment section of the story, you went here on your own.
