I just graduated GSA, and I recognize all the locations except her apartment. Nearly every other GSA student will too. The artsy side of Glasgow is a small town indeed. To Bean -- "take the piss" means to do something in a tongue-in-cheek manner here. It has a great etymology, but I'll leave it to ya'll to discover. Ha!
