Yes, I agree...a noble sentiment. But the only ones participating are the ones who agree that the world should be peaceful. Preaching to the choir. Despots and dictators don't take a day off from war to promote peace--it's bad for business.

I try to make the difference everyday, but I can´t stop thinking about the hidden interests here. I met a guy that wanted to stablish "the universal life day". He´s just an idiot thinking about profit and publicity. Peace sells.
Certainly not to belittle his efforts, which are noble indeed --- but the U.N. actually did designate an International Day of Peace a number of years ago: September 11th. Unfortunately, a bunch of terrorist morons went and wrecked it for everyone in 2001 (before the observation of IDoP could really gather steam).
I shall make the effort not to kill anyone on this day... it will be hard, but I think you have to try and support these things. "PEACE DAY: you can all start killing each other again tomorrow."
