New Destructive Sport: Appliance Golf

By Alex in Sports on Jun 23, 2008 at 4:12 pm

I suck at golf, but here’s a version that even I can be good at: appliance golf. Reuter’s Oddly Enough blog explains:

You know, it’s a lot like regular golf, but players use sledgehammers instead of golf clubs, and they use washers, refrigerators and televisions instead of balls. [...]

Participants destroy appliances with sledgehammers during an anti-stress session or “Destruction Therapy” before fiestas in Castejon, Spain, June 21,

So it’s basically just smashing things? Not a sport, sorry.

Oh, good plan: dump a lot of toxic lead into the soil. Idiots.

How is that in any way like golf?
You could have called it appliance baseball, only you don’t run around the bases.

What? I don’t think any of our modern appliances have lead in them.

Why is it that Youtube videos of these things always have a hundred comments beneath them about how “Oooooh you could have donated those to CHARITY! Those antiques could be worth thousands!” Meanwhile they’re just smashing crap from the eighties that nobody cares about.

    Good to combat stress.
