Canned Bacon

Good: Bacon
Better: Bacon you can eat any time
Neatorama-worthy: Bacon with 10-year shelf life … introducing: Canned Bacon!

You can get it from MREdepot.com:

Each can is 9 ounces of fully cooked and drained bacon. Between 2-3/4 and 3-1/4 pounds of raw bacon go into each can. Each can is the highest quality fresh #1 bacon slices. Cured to our specifications, cooked and then hand wrapped, rolled and packed in the U.S.

We cook this bacon down for you prior to canning, so you won’t pay for all of the natural shrinkage that occurs whenever you cook bacon. Then we carefully drain all of the fat and liquid off and can it fresh so it will taste as good out of the can as it would right out of the refrigerator.

if canning has proved one thing to us, it's that it is incredibly unhealthy.

"We cook this bacon down for you prior to canning, so you won’t pay for all of the natural shrinkage"

wait a minute.. we PAY for bacon to shrink? i highly doubt this... and even if we do, we're paying for something that occurs naturally, as well we should. i don't want food to be cheap because 'they' take away all the natural ingredients. our natural bodies are made to process natural foods in order to maintain nornal health. this is a great example of why americans are so fat-- all the food we buy isn't even real anymore, as all the natural ingredients have been replaced by preservatives and additives. not like my one opinion is going to change anything... oh well.. viva la canned bacon, i guess.

I believe they are talking about the fat draining from the bacon after it is cooked. So in 9oz can of bacon about 2-3/4 and 3-1/4 pounds of bacon went into it and you would have paid for that difference in the store.

Hey, don't knock it till you try it. A neighbor of mine was into canning meat, and it was delicious. Better than most of the slop I could cook up with fresh meat.

I have actually tried this stuff and it is better than beyond very good. Yes it tastes good right out of the can. Yes you can eat it out of the can because its cooked. If you want it crisper just through it in a pan in crisp it up.

There just something about eating bacon that makes you smile.
