Parents Won Legal Battle to Name Kid "Lego"

After a legal battle, a Swedish couple have won the right to name their baby son ... Lego!

Couples in Sweden have previously run into trouble with officials over the names Ikea, Veranda, Metallica and the use of Elvis for a girl.

But the Swedish Administrative Court of Appeals has now overruled an earlier decision to stop a couple naming their child after the brightly coloured plastic building blocks.

Lego is an extremely litigious company. Moreso than any other toy company, I think. They tried to sue me once:

what is the obsession with obscure names over there? is it just in defiance of the goverment screening the names of their children? if so, poor kids....

So people in Sweden are not free to name their children what they want? Their government regulates child names???

That is micro-management to the N'th degree. That's Socialism for ya...

The government shouldn't have a problem with it. But the parents have to be prepared for the lawsuits from the copyright holders. I can't wait to see what happens to the parents of Kleenex, Xerox, and Rollerblade. You know it's going to happen one of these days...
