Ha, I’ve actually driven past a Curl Up & Dye before (lots of punny hair salons out there).

The first time I encountered a Curl Up and Dye salon was in the movie Earth Girls are Easy. That was a funny film!

On St. Simon’s Island, Ga. there’s a store called Pane in the Glass.

Here in Macon, I had to get a wheel replaced on my car after hitting a mean pothole. I found a store called Hubcap and Wheel, and the guy gave me a card with his name on it, and the card identified him as a “Hubcapitolist.”

Ah, my favorite is here in Simi Valley, California: Indiana Bones and the Temple of Groom (yes a dog’s groomer) - it’s out of business now.

I think Curl Up and Dye also appears in The Blues Brothers, where Carrie Fisher is seen reading the manual for a flamethrower while doing her nails.

As a central New Yorker, I have to give mention to Sherlock Homes real estate in Auburn.

There are a few on Haight Street in SF; Haight to Wash laundromat is my favorite, although Haight Mail is pretty good too.
