Interesting, but I don’t think she was “born twice”. Doesn’t being born imply leaving the womb altogether (and possibly having the umbilical cord cut)?

When they found such a place, they opened the relaxed womb and extracted about 80 percent of Macie Hope’s body — which weighed no more than a quarter of a pound — leaving just the head and upper body in the womb.

Before I got to the “head and upper body” part of that sentence, I thought they were implying the tumor accounted for 80% of her mass. Eek.

I seem to remember that in Utero surgery leaves no scarring what so ever.

Eh, kinda neat, but the very fact that he is a “fetal surgeon” implies that he does this thing with decent regularity. This one particular surgery just happened to be fed to the media.
