Principal Tormented by "Educaiton" Typo in Diploma

I really shouldn't make fun of this, since Neatorama is typophilic, but here it is anyhow:

The easy way out would have been to tell the graduates of Westlake High School that the misspelling on their diplomas was a final test.

A test. Yeah, that's it.

Instead, Principal Timothy Freeman fell on his red pen, shouldering responsibility for the diplomas issued to 330 Westlake graduates at the Wolstein Center in Cleveland on Saturday that read board of "educaiton," not "education."

When my sister graduated from high school it was the school's 10th anniversary (a big deal). Sherando High School, it was, and they printed out SHERMANDO High School on every single diploma cover.

With thousands of graduating classes every year, mistakes are bound to happen. If this were a recurring problem, I'd understand taking it out on the whole country, but this is the first I've seen. All it takes is one guy not proofreading, and you declare all Americans idiots? Thanks for your understanding, TT.

D-bag.

It was correct on the first proof, my ass. I send proofs all day long to people, if they want a change, I make the change, I don't go back and start messing with the copy at all, I just make the change (in this case the signature blocks). I have a feeling he is just trying to get off on blaming the printing company, when it was his own damn fault.

hehe, my school messed up with my final certificate too, with some numbers regarding the scores i got. I am a bit surprised the certificates didnt get reprinted, mine was taken away, destroyed and i got a shiny new, correct one within days?

yep. thats my high school. and really the word education was spelt right the first time round -- it wa the printing companies fault when we sent the diplomas back for reprinting. but seriously, isnt everyone blowing this a little bit out of proportion?

A pal of mine's father was a high up in the education system in the UK, he had a large report submitted to him regarding the teaching of English and planning for the future.

Throughout the report the word Grammar was spelled Grammer.
