If you read the vedic scriptures which have been approved by sages,yogi's,spiritual leaders,scientist's,etc going back thousand's of years.You would then realise that even rocks,mountains.All none moving and moving entities have consciousness but not as developed as animals and especially humans.
Great books and CDs for discovering life's mysteries are Bhagavad-gita as it is,Shrimad-Bhagavatama also downloaded from the net.

I wonder what would happen if you placed an object on the stones and watered them thus forcing the stones to "grow" on it? Did I just suggest a new form of rock art?!
