Floral Patterns on Bare Concrete Floors

Posted by Alex in Architecture, Arts & Crafts, Home & Garden on May 26, 2008 at 12:30 am

Design studio Transparent House has a neat new way of dressing up stark industrial bare concrete floors. Supposedly their floral patterns can be applied to both newly poured floor and that where the concrete is already set.

No details on their website, so I’m guessing it’s some sort of a sandblasting or acid-etching technique. Link [Flash, click on Portfolio, then Industrial Design if you don't see it at first] – via RuebenMiller

That's a 3d rendering, it is not real.

From the website : "Though the art work seen here is conceptual design only, the techniques for producing these decorative patters on concrete do exist"

Looks like sandblasting to me. Pretty, but makes it really hard to clean the floor.

Looks like how they do tombstones - etching. What factory would want this?

I think it looks great, but agree, cleaning would be a real pain.

maybe could use it on a wall - or a floor if there was a clear sealer coating to make it level and easy to clean.

    Using decorative concrete stains,
paints, sealers and simple repairs can create a
touch of beauty and add years to the life of your home's concrete surfaces.
From driveways to patios to basement floors,
and even landscape stones and edging, you can do simple projects to
customize the look and add protection from weather and harsh chemicals.
    In most cases you don't
need to hire a professional to achieve this.
