The Ten Deepest Caves in the World

By Miss Cellania in Travel on May 21, 2008 at 9:49 am

Guess what: they’re all in Europe (unless you want to argue about the location of Georgia). Some of them run a mile or more deep into the earth, although to actually go a mile deep, you’d have to trek or rappel for miles and miles. The world’s deepest cave for now is 7188 feet (2191 m) deep, although with research, that record can always be broken by those who feel the need to explore the “bottomless pits” of the world. that is so awesome! it makes me want to go spelunking…..if it weren’t for the irrational fear that there would be a human eating darkness dweller in those caves…

Any stories of people getting lost in these bottomless pits?

Michelle Duggar (18 kids) was number 11 on the list.

I would love to do this kinda stuff. Unfortunately, I’m scared of getting lost down there forever! :(

It’s not the depth that counts. It’s how you spelunk it.

There’s a flea on a dog on a horse on a teacup on a surfboard in a hole… etc etc

The one inside my girlfriend’s head is pretty big. An endless cavern of mystery.

I like how the one cave is an “unfathomable enigma”. A little hyperbole, there…
