Man, I’m glad the Russians have generally been our allies, accordian-guy alone would kick our asses. Imagine how fit you must have to be even to do a half of that!

That is such a great video. I can’t get over how similar to modern b-boy battles that is. Except far more good-natured, and we don’t dance in full military garb with heavy leather boots.

    Dance Dance Revolutionaries.

    They do kick ass.

I can’t believe the dance fits so well with the music though… I really want to know how that happened! It fits all the way through!

Rohin, The video syncs so well because the it was edited, however the device of the original film is obviously a dance battle, so yep, nothing is new.

Having grown up during the latter half of the Cold War, I echo the sentiments of some of the other posters. There is something about this video that captures some sort of relief that the Soviets and the U.S did not engage in a nuclear exchange. I suppose its joie de vivre would have been marred by a certain ominous feeling.

    Ratz -

The Russians have generally been your allies? What country do you live in, Iran? Armenia?

Well, Russia hasn’t tried kicking anyones ass in a while. Probably cause all these soldiers are out of commission. If they were still out there fighting/dancing we would be f’ed in the a.

    CheeseDuck -

Evidently, you missed everything they’ve done in Georgia over the past decade or so. And Azerbaijan. Plus Chechnya. And a whole bunch of other places.

Guys, stop talking about the cold war and chechens :)).

    just go with it!

As a Russian citizen I can tell you smth about those dances. Men on the video are not simple soldiers. This is one of the military dance band, they dance famous “cossack’s” dances. It is an old tradition to have military clubs, where tallanted soldiers could dance and sing traditional(you could say even folk) dances and songs, not only in USSR,but in Russia nowadays. Oh, you should find some video with cossack’s chorus, it is cool too.

    P.S sorry for my english
