NANA Saver

a whole banana is between 80 and 115 calories. a pound of bananas runs about $1. that's 8 bananas, usually. so for a $3 banana-saver to pay for itself, the consumer would have to eat 24 bananas in 2 sittings.

this is a silly product, man, i'm with you. i watch my calorie intake, and i've never thought "i can't eat this whole banana."

Just eat the bloody thing

We often have 1/2 bananas left over at our house. It's not my wife or I, it's because of my 2 year old son.

Sometimes he's too full after the 1/2 banana (usually used to top him off after the rest of the meal) and sometimes he just gets bored of it.

We just use a ziplock though, or leave it exposed, then cut off the 1/4 inch of dry area before using the rest.

Old cafeteria worker trick: to keep most sliced fruits fresher longer, rub the exposed portion with lemon or lime juice to slow down oxidation. Lemon juice works great but lime tastes better :-).

This reminds me of the guy on Dragon's Den who had a cap for preserving half a cucumber...I can't remember what it was called but one of the Dragons said it looked like a condom for a cucumber!

Seriously, eat it all. Or throw it away. It's garbage once you stop eating it.

My housemate and I nearly came to blows over this. It wasn't until the fruit flies spread to his bedroom that he believed me. They lay eggs through the banana skin. Leaving a cut one open lets lots of them come to life and take over your house.

Either eat the whole bloody banana, use a banana flavoured condom to place the banana inside and then tie it(possibly a really disgusting idea, especially if its a used condom) or buy smaller bananas.

I wonder what the hell the inventor was thinking.

I usually eat 2 bananas at once or make banana sandwiches. I eat about 4 sandwiches at once and I'm not fat! I used to be chubby though, but my mum called it puppy fat.:P

Wow. Lots of half-banana-hate... I often have half a banana left-over, usually because I don't like eating bananas by themselves but one is too big for a bowl of cereal or the sandwich I'm making. Wouldn't buy this, though, since it's easy enough to cut off the bad part later.

And, uh, Barbwire, ...you're fine eating fly eggs in your banana so long as it's still ripe and they haven't hatched? I've never seen fly eggs under banana skin and they would be visible. Now, fruit flies like to lay eggs on decomposing fruit; perhaps that's where your were coming from?

This is just what I need for the leftover 'nana half from my peanut butter and banana sandwiches!

... Though usually just putting the other half in a snack size baggie and then slicing off and discarding the 1/8 or less of browned end the next day works just fine, too.

You can buy smaller bananas.
Just eat the whole damn banana or share.

It would be awesome to pair that along with the banana guard (http://www.bananaguard.com/) as a gift... Although honestly, I don't remember ever wanting to eat only half a banana.

Definitely unecessary, leave it and cut off the end when you're ready, or just fold a little square of paper towel over the cut end. Dumbest invention since that jar that cooks pasta. Sucker born every minute, people starving in Africa, don't waste the money.
