There’s probably a subtle commentary about the future of professional artists and entertainers in general here, but I can’t bear to think about it. Once, poets were revered as the height of passion and intellectualism. Then, literacy went on a rampage and the tools of the trade became accessible to everyone.

And 99.9% of it will be beyond shite. Reminds me of when “interactive storytelling” was going to replace movies and video games simultaneously.

Just because you *can* do something doesn’t mean you should.

Same reason virtual doctoring never caught on. You really want someone who knows what they are doing.

I think I’ll learn how to weld… less chance of being up against the wall when the revolution comes.

Youtube is already a perfect example: 1% interesting with possibilites and the rest crap.

CNN and other news organizations have been begging for years for ‘user-generated content’ with little to nothing to show for it.

The bottom line is that few people have the time, resources or talent to pull it off. Having done a number of short film projects with my son for school, I can tell you that it is a LOT of work and several of his classmates have thrown in the towel when they found out just how un-easy it is to make a film…
