Top 20 Screen Robots

Which is your favorite movie robot?

The time when our TV and cinema screens were full of clunky dustbins and oversized toasters just happy to help has long gone.

Now robots look more like supermodels and want to wipe us out. In fact, some of them are more hard-on than hard disc. Well, that’s progress for you. But we still love them, right? Despite the fact they want to kill us.

Whether you agree with the rankings or not, you can relive some memories with this list, with video clips for each robot. Link -via Digg

That link didn’t feel like loading for me (probably because it’s from Digg) but I’m assuming my favorite, Robbie the Robot, is ranked highly.

    Missing B-1 from Lost in Space… “DOES NOT COMPUTE”… I guess Daleks and Cybermen don’t count… because they’re technically cyborgs… but hold on… so’s robocop…

I’d pick a Davros or a Dalek over robocop anyday!

    I demand a recount!!!! (obey)

R2-D2 at #1? No way. C-3PO, Gort, and Johnny 5 would all have to be in the top 5 but I think T-800 is the undisputed winner.

I have to argue with andrewdoane on R2-D2 not belonging at #1. Clearly the coolest movie robot of all time! Johnny 5 is OK, but all of the other entries on the list should be fembots from Austin Powers. Ah, the days before Brittney Spears went mental…

The robot from the Beastie Boys “Intergalactic” video is pretty cool too.
