I can name half a dozen ultras off the top of my head which are longer and a couple with worse conditions as well. The Iditarod Trail Invitational is 350 miles across Alaska on foot in February. Still, it's an impressive feat and the conditions are brutal enough for me. Not to disparage any of these athletes, but status as “hardest race in the world” is highly debatable.
