    That reminds me of Dean Karnazes who ran 50 marathons in 50 days in 50 states. The lengths people can push themselves to are utterly amazing.

    Man, these people are tough. They’d have to average 22 miles a day, which doesn’t sound like much, until you realize how horrible those miles are.

    Yeah that was a cool segment, I watched it last night. Really amazing what people are capable of. I don’t think I could complete that journey!

    Not to disparage any of these athletes, but status as “hardest race in the world” is highly debatable. I can name half a dozen ultras off the top of my head which are longer and a couple with worse conditions as well. The Iditarod Trail Invitational is 350 miles across Alaska on foot in February. Still, it’s an impressive feat and the conditions are brutal enough for me.
