Down in Argentina, there were three Presidents who held office for just three days: General Arturo Rawson (June 4-7, 1943); Ramón Puerta (December 21-23, 2001) and Eduardo Camaño (December 31, 2001-January 2, 2002).

That would be David Rice Atchison,which said to have happened on Mar 4 1859, however this claim is based on the fact that Polk’s term had already expired and Talyor had not taken the oath of office. but neither did Atchison so technically I guess it’s false, but debatable.

According to at least one book I read, he spent most of that day sleeping also.

since you ask: If Lady Jane was Henry’s sister’s grandchild, then she and Edward VI were first cousins once removed.

If Henry had grandchildren, they would have been Jane’s second cousins.

I read somewhere that there was a man who served as President for 24 hours, because the previous president’s term had ended, and the newly elected president would not take his oath on a Sunday. I can’t find anything to back me up at the moment, though.

William Henry Harrison– he was President of the USA for about a month before dying. I believe his inaugural parade was held in the rain and he fell ill shortly afterward, passing away about two weeks later …

Yay for some Lady Jane Grey mentions! My family is descended from the Tudors; we’re actually directly descended from Jane’s younger sister. It was very interesting to read the various histories of these (so-called) rulers!
