the original video shown at TED is way better than this, but unfortunately, it has been removed from online….

Even this video is old enough to start collecting a pension, but it’s worth seeing once.

I want my own moonwalking bear to follow me as I walk down the street to maul all the cyclists that almost run me over because they think they can run red lights.

The idea is completely stolen. The original was created (and copywrited) in 1999. I think I first saw it in 2000.
Here’s a writeup that contains a link to the original.

I think I’ve seen the one with the gorilla, but that doesn’t stop me from getting the point they’re making!
I actually had to rewind the actual film and see for myself that the bear was there the first time! I’m amazed everytime.

Actually, the original is a psychology of attention classic filmed in the 70’s (I think) involving a girl walking through with an umbrella. It is shown to almost every intro to psych class out there. I like the message on this video though, clever use of a well known phenomenon to get a point across.

Saw the gorilla one at a lifeguard training to remind us to look out for drowning people. Oddly, drowning people is what I look out for.
