It’s Habitrail for rednecks on this week’s Neatorama and Hobotopia’s Caption Monkey Game.

The funniest caption will win Meet the Laugh-Out-Loud Cats, a book by Adam "Ape Lad" Koford. If you like Adam’s old timey LOLcat comics (like on his Flickr set here), then this is the book for you! It has over 250 comic panels detailing the adventures of Kitteh and Pip.

Contest rules are darned simple: place your caption in the comment section. One caption per comment, please, but you can submit as many funny ones as you can think of.

Good luck! (but if you don’t win, you can still get Adam’s book over at Lulu)

Update 4/17/08: Congratulations to MoonCake who won with this caption “Swiss Family Rednecks,” as picked by da man Adam Koford himself.

This was the stage set for a 2005 open-air theatre production of Ivanov, by Anton Tsjechov. It took place in the Amsterdamse Bos Theatre in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. A remarkable venue (even without the trailers). http://www.bostheater.nl/

Not to be a party pooper...

    red·neck (r?d'n?k') Pronunciation Key
    n. Offensive Slang
Used as a disparaging term for a member of the white rural laboring class, especially in the southern United States.

    nig·ger (n?g'?r) Pronunciation Key
    n. Offensive Slang
Used as a disparaging term for a Black person

Now, I don't condone the use of either word. To me it shows the intelligence of the user, or lack of.

But why is one still being used, and considered ok?

And please, no one bring up Jeff Foxworthy. As I could easily just bring up the zillions of rap songs that have the n word in it.

Doesn't make using it right. And I am not one of those politically correct police.

I just think things should be equal so to speak.

Not to feed a party pooper, but "Redneck" etymologies are based in religion and working classes, not based singularly on the color of one's skin. If you are so concerned that Redneck is as offensive as a racial slur doing a bit of research wouldn't hurt beyond "disparaging term" because the historical origin as well as current usage of the two words couldn't be more different.

Kevin: It is true that Redneck and Nigger can both be called "disparaging" words but there was never a time when Rednecks were systematically enslaved, beaten, raped, lynched, excluded, harrassed, etc. The word nigger evokes all those things, while the word redneck does not. Please do not try to tell me they are the same thing.

    Now, as for my caption:
A herd or "convoy" of motor homes rests after a long day's travel. They utilize a defensive technique known as "bunching", to avoid and discourage predators.
