The Dish Ran Away with the Spoon

Good spoons have heavy handles, but that makes it difficult to lay your spoon down when eating from a bowl. If you don’t want to put the spoon down on the table, you’ll tip the bowl over. But this bowl and spoon combination makes it easy to rest your spoon in your bowl. $21.00 Link -via J-Walk Blog

It's like paying $21 for a paper napkin to put the spoon on...

Thanks for the idea Jerse! So long as they are ironic napkins, Im sure trendsters will shell out $20 for purpose specific napkins

The niches for the spoon have the added benefit of becoming spouts if one were ever to pour out the contents of the bowl.

Does it come with the spoon or are they just counting on the buyer to have spoons of the appropriate size?

It's quite similar to this 5+ year old design:

I really don't get the idea..."heavy handles tips the bowl over"? Sadly, I've never encountered that problem in my life. I just put the spoon into the bowl, keeping those twenty bucks. Could be some cross-atlantic differences in table manners, though....

hi - just happened on your site after i was on gizmodo. i'm the designer of the "dish ran away with the spoon" bowl. enjoyed reading your comments. remember they are around $20 because they are handmade domestically using lead free, cadmium free glaze. no china import here. each is a little different since they are made by hand and yes the spoon comes with the bowl but it also handle pretty much any other teaspoon. i meant the design to work when you are eating soup for instance and aren't done and don't know where to put your somewhat dirty spoon etc....also good for lounging and multitasking around as the spoon doesn't drop down into the bowl. holds 16 ounces. feel free to send me any comments through my site anytime. thanks!

$21 is incredible for a bowl with some notches in it. good luck selling that thing.

This is great, unless you put the spoon in the holder because the soup is really hot. In that case, the spoon winds up being really hot and also wet. Ouch.
